On October 26, 1996, Angle was convinced by Shane Douglas to attend the taping of an Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) event named High Incident. Without it we wouldn't have Cactus Jack or Stone Cold. Many hoped it would be as high in quality as the rise and fall of ECW while others looked forward to it to see how WWE would rewrite and criticize WCW's history. New Rise and Fall of ECW Book Review OK peeps, first things first – I'm a huge ECW fan. Paul Heyman was one of the It had the best wrestlers to me. Extreme Championship Wrestling (1996). Became the most anticipated wrestling DVD release of the year for a multitude of reasons. He dropped both of his titles without ever conceding a fall in a two falls Triple Threat match with Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 2000; the match had been agreed to on Angle's behalf by his mentor, Bob Backlund. Now yes ECW did have some problems the whole, Brian Pillman didn't go so well to me. But tragically ECW ended up failing in the end. Now I'm ok with Vince buying the ECW video library. With the final product now available I can say that neither hope or expectation came true, instead we've got another fluffed up DVD production that at best glosses over the history of World Championship Wrestling. When Paul Heyman owned it and ran it, ECW was great. But I'm not ok with Vince using the name Extreme Championship Wrestling.
